A Cycle of Synthesis
Perfectly balanced between light and dark,
a breeze perfumed with the scent of woodsmoke
disruptes the quiet surface.
Freshly constructed, a sluiceway is installed into the existing flow -
creating a need for the inner current to find new direction
and giving rise to, spawning eddies and fluxes
each with a unique energetic pattern.
Moving away from balance in the natural cyclical pattern of entropy,
previously dry areas are flooded - requiring a shift of life.
Erosion exposes material for inspection, consideration, filtration, discard.
A cycle of destruction - releasing elements
which may impede the lifegiving properties of the flow -
balanced by creation of new islands of swamp.
Transmutation of gas to liquid replenishes and enlives the current -
increased volume creates turbidity
and carves new pathways around the foreign structure.
Longer nights bring a shift from liquid to solid -
flow slows but never ceases, unseen
beneath the now solid surface.
Inspection of the submerged structure reveals
deep mud.
Flow mediated by the moon
attends the constantly shifting surface -
expanding, contracting, thickening and sublimating
in relationship with the sun.
Movement back through the balance point
brings fusion of surface and body.
Stratified layers held within the darkness upwell
into the dancing, scintilating, oxygenated surface -
now a tumbling flow,
as new life emerges from the fertile bottom silt.
